It’s officially summer time, which means it’s intern season! This week we sat down with Rachel, Concept Envy’s summer intern to have her us all a little bit about herself.
Rachel, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi! My name is Rachel and I’m a hard-working, smiley, ambitious 20-year old originally from La Grange, a Western suburb of Chicago. Fun fact: I went to the same high school as David Hasselhoff! I now attend Marquette University and am loving every second of it. I’m majoring in Advertising and minoring in Marketing.
Do you participate in any extracurriculars outside of school?
I am a member of the Marquette Dance team, where I get to cheer and dance on the court at all the Men’s and Women’s home basketball games. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel with the Big East Conference and NCAA. In addition to dancing, I frequently attend AD and Marketing club meetings.
Is dance a passion of yours?
I’ve been dancing since I was three. Dance has always been a huge part of my life and I’ve experienced so many awesome opportunities from it, including auditions for “America’s Got Talent,” and dancing in my choreographers Off-Broadway show in New York City in 2011. I knew that when I came to Marquette I had to keep dancing, so I am happy to be keeping that passion alive.
What do you do when you’re not in school or dancing?
When I am not dancing, you can find me at the gym, library, (where I unfortunately go often) or in the kitchen. I love looking up healthy recipes and trying out new things. I hope someday to do some sort of work with advertising and promoting healthy ways of life. I also love down time where I am either taking a nap or watching The Office on Netflix.
Do you know what aspect of advertising you want to specialize in yet?
When it comes to my future career, I like to say that the advertising industry has always been in my blood. My mom was the supervisor of Art Production at Leo Burnett in Chicago for five years, and my dad is a freelance photographer. I am still unsure about what I want to do in the industry because there are so many routes to take. I am so grateful to be a part of Concept Envy, and learn from an expert group of people. I think by shadowing and trying out different aspects of an agency it will help me further my knowledge and aid me in figuring out what the heck I want to do after I graduate in two years.
Now that you’ve met Rachel, meet the rest of the Concept Envy team!
